Bathroom Safety Tips

The bathroom may be a work of art and contain some of the most beautiful remodeling you have ever seen. But that doesn’t make the room any less dangerous. In fact, the bathroom is one of the most dangerous rooms in the house. In order to keep yourself and your family safe from any dangers, below is a list of bathroom safety tips to keep you and your family out of harm’s way.

  • Do not plug an electrical appliance into an area near where water is present. If an electrical item falls into water, it can lead to electrocution.
  • In wet areas, such as the shower, place a non-slip mat to prevent and injuries.
  • After a shower or a bath, make sure to wipe up any excess water on the floor. This can prevent slipping as well as electrocuting.
  • Electrical outlets should be protected with a ground-fault circuit interrupter. This will help protect you against a water/electrical related incident.
  • Install grab bars near the shower/bathtub and near the toilet in case you lose your footing. This can prevent slipping. This tip is beneficial for senior citizens especially.
  • Cleaning supplies can contain hazardous materials that should not be ingested by children. Keep them out of reach of small children who may not know better.
