Pack up the dishes from your kitchen in a manner that is as secure as possible. It’s a good idea to wrap them with bubble wrap and pack them in boxes to protect them from dust. Always pack the first items that you will need to use the last, so that they will be immediately available when you need them.
Protect Your Floors
Especially if your kitchen floors were already replaced before the official start of your custom kitchen remodel, protect them from the heavy boots and machinery that will be in your kitchen for the next few weeks. Purchase carpet scraps from a carpet store and place them on the kitchen floor, taping them down or together wherever possible. You can also place a carpet pad underneath to prevent sliding. The contractors visiting your property will need somewhere to park. Map out a few spaces in advance and ensure that you can accommodate a large van or truck closest to your home. This allows your custom kitchen remodel workers to get in and out more quickly and easily access extra supplies from their vehicle without needing to hike up the street.
Take Out Sentimental Items
Finally, remove any valuable or sentimental items from the kitchen area. While it is likely that nothing would happen to the artwork on your fridge, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Move everything valuable to a safe place and replace it once the custom kitchen remodel is done.
