Add Baby Gates
First of all, you should consider adding some baby gates. Your new child might be old enough to take their first steps, but that doesn’t mean they’re ready to explore the entirety of your custom home. When you have properly-installed gates, you can prevent them from accessing the stairs and potentially tripping down them. These gates can also keep them from getting into trouble in the kitchen or elsewhere where they could encounter a potential safety hazard that you would be aware enough to avoid.
However, before you invest in any model of baby gate, make sure the ones you are buying meet or exceed all applicable safety guidelines, and that these guidelines are as current as possible.
Cover Up Doorknobs
Your little one might not have been able to reach the knobs and handles on the doors before. But once they’re more mobile, you should cover up the doorknobs. The best covers will make it so that the knobs won’t turn.
Lower the Water Temperature
Bath time may be a not-so-fun experience for you and your child. But be sure to update the faucets in your sinks and tubs so that your curious youngster can’t find themselves in trouble with some unexpected hot water.
Baby-proof the Windows
Along with doors, you’ll want to make sure the windows are baby-proof as well. Find new coverings for your windows that don’t have a pull cord.
